Remediation - Side of Roadway

Remediation of soil resulting from a tractor-trailer crash on a major interstate. The depth of excavation was monitored ensure the contamination was removed while maintaining the integrity of the highway.

Inclement weather had resulted in contamination spreading to an adjacent ditch, so booms were deployed to prevent the contamination from reaching a nearby waterway. The booms were monitored and replaced as needed to ensure that all contamination was removed.

On other projects with contamination that does not float on water an underflow is utilized to stop the spread.

Headstones in a cemetery

Remediation - Rural Community

Remediation in a historic cemetery in a rural community due to a tractor-trailer crash. Multiple tombstones were damaged and soil around and on top of the graves was contaminated by diesel fuel.

Environmental Management worked closely with the town officials to remediate and restore the cemetery as quickly as possible. Our staff took extra precautions, utilized specialized digging equipment to maintain the integrity of the graves, laid new sod once the remediation was complete, and assisted cemetery personnel with cleaning and resetting of the headstones.

Pigeons

Remediation of Pigeon Droppings and Bat Guano from Buildings

The accumulation of bird or bat droppings inside or outside buildings provides a perfect environment for the growth of Histoplasma Capsalatum spores. Inhaling these spores can lead to Histoplasmosis, a fungal infection that primarily affects the lungs.

When providing remediation services Environmental Management staff utilize proper protective clothing, and respirators equipped with high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that catch particulates down to two microns in size. For major cleanup projects with prolonged exposure our staff utilize powered air purifying or supplied air respirators.
